Find Our Community - 6 Clicks form Anywhere

This site belongs to an old school mate of mine and is an excellent portal to local communities around the world. Unfortunately a number of people have tweaked and added over the years and the pages are stuffed with some really grungy code.

My first task was to clean up all the HTML styles and replace them with a single CSS file. Now that I could see what I was doing the next job was to remove the tables as far as possible. I did leave one in place, it holds the country image, the links and the google ads on the right. I could of fixed it with a few floats but this way is so much easier.

Another major task was to replace the ASP files with a much simpler set of HTML pages - it makes them much easier to edit.

With the structure in place it didn't take long to add some navigation - a set of general links and some breadcrumbs making it easy for the user to navigate back through the levels.

With the addition of a search box and new footer the site was now ready for publication.

Next task is to visit each community in turn and make sure the local links are up-to-date, relevant and accurate. Only 1500 pages and 50,000 links to check!
